Film description:

In the latest series of season 3 Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon told their team about Madeleine Hightower. They are born a plan to capture an accomplice of Red John. Their colleagues agree to take part in this illegal operation. OK – I always like going out on a limb. The shows I do like, I get lambasted for and the ones I do not like – well let's just say I tend to be over-the-top. Every Thursday I watch Patrick Jane stumble through crime scenes – making snide remarks and dazzling perps and police alike with Vulcan Mind tricks - tactics that would baffle Spock. There are shows I do not watch; some I watch because that is all that is on and others I will wait all week long to watch. 'The Mentalist' falls into the latter category (if it really is a category). I will also do this for 'Bones', 'NCIS', 'CSI NY' and 'Psych'. The show has borrowed from other crime shows on TV (Psych being one of them) – but only slightly. The characterization is original (ok – maybe he tends to be Columbo-ish or maybe Munk-ish). The program is always fun to watch and has solid enough writing that the long term plot is well supported by the weekly crime-solving. SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! – RED JOHN is not dead – the guy shot was a controlled troglodyte. Or maybe he was Red John? I do not know – I do not know. I guess I will have to keep watching to find out.

I am so bummed that CBS is ending the show, The Mentalist. CBS finally got the time slot right by putting the show on Wednesday Nights @ 8:00pm. Too bad they didn't do that years ago, since I believe that the ratings would have been much better. I'm going to miss, Patrick Jane & I hope CBS has another show lined up with Simon Baker, but I'd prefer to watch him in The Mentalist. That show was the best character for him. I liked The Guardian, several years ago, but the story line was a bit slow. The Mentalist was more to his style & it was quite funny too. I don't understand why the stupid shows get the 8:00pm slots, & most of the good shows come on at 10:00pm.
