Film description:

TV series "Rome" begins after Julius Caesar comes back to the Eternal City after the exhausting eight-year-long war in Gaul. However, instead of honoring the winner, the Senate is preparing a different reception. Caesar’s niece Atia is impatiently waiting for him. The Patricians are in dismay as they are feared that Julius' come-back will violate the status quo and that the prosperity which they have reached by oppressing the plebs will come to an end. In the Senate the Patricians’ leaders persuade Caesar’s old friend Pompey of Caesar’s threat to the well-being of Rome. Now Pompey Magnus is getting ready to dethrone Julius and become the new ruler. Caesar’s and Pompey’s adherents divide in two camps. The regent’s return gives rise to a real civil war. In the meantime, 2 legionnaires, Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo are undertaking a venture which, is successful, will tangibly raise their wealth.
