Film description:

This FOX animated comedy is a spin-off of the much-loved series Family Guy. The series features the adventures of Peter Griffin's neighbor Cleveland Brown. Many years ago, Cleveland made a promise to his old high school sweetheart, Donna. Cleveland, along with Cleveland Junior, move to Stoolbend, VA to start a new life with Donna and her two children. The Cleveland Show is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane, Richard Appel, and Mike Henry for the Fox Broadcasting Company as a spin-off of Family Guy. The series centers on the Browns and Tubbs, two dysfunctional families consisting of parents Cleveland Brown and Donna Tubbs and their children Cleveland Brown, Jr., Roberta Tubbs, and Rallo Tubbs. Similar to Family Guy, it exhibits much of its humor in the form of cutaway gags that often lampoon American culture.

Not A Bad Start!

Seth McFarlane should be applauded. This man has brass balls.

The Cleveland show is clearly a joke. It's a take on horrible spin-off shows and it's done brilliantly. So brilliantly in fact, that nobody has seemed to have gotten the joke! Which, in turn, makes it that much more funny.

From the first punch line to the theme song , this show was designed to "bad." So bad that it's hilarious. (Where did his kid come from?!) Look at any aspect of this show, and it's clearly an extension of a Family Guy "day dream." The format is EXACTLY the same as Family guy - from the children, to the bar, to a talking animal. Cleveland Brown will clearly be back on Family Guy within the next year.

In the same vein of Andy Kaufman, Seth McFarlane has pushed the boundaries of network TV and has purposely made a horrible show to poke fun at the American public.

I laughed hard from start to finish. This show, taken in the correct light, as it should, was one of the best pilots ever on TV. If, for the sheer fact that *nobody* knew it was a satire before it aired (or after, apparently)! A+

The series was conceived by MacFarlane in 2007 after developing the two animated series Family Guy and American Dad! for the Fox Network. MacFarlane centered the show on Family Guy character Cleveland Brown, his new wife Donna Tubbs, his step-children Rallo and Roberta Tubbs, and his son Cleveland, Jr., who, in the show, is depicted as an obese, soft-spoken teen, as opposed to his depiction as a younger, hyperactive child with average body weight on Family Guy.

The series originally aired from September 27, 2009, to May 19, 2013, for a total of four seasons and 88 episodes. The Cleveland Show was nominated for one Annie Award, one Primetime Emmy Award, and two Teen Choice Awards, but received mixed-to-average reviews from media critics. The series was canceled after its fourth season. Cleveland has since returned to Family Guy, accompanied by the rest of the Brown-Tubbs family, as of the twelfth season episode "He's Bla-ack!".

Though it seemed to move a bit fast for the first episode surprisingly, this show has something to offer more than Family Guy. Family Guy is fun to watch for all of the shenanigans, but sometimes you need something funny AND with a storyline. This show offers just that.

In essence it's the same thing as family guy, an intelligent but foul mouth baby, a fat son like his father, and a misunderstood teenage daughter. There are some odd things, such as a bear who lives next door, a racist redneck neighbor (they are in Virginia) who is still funny and caring nonetheless, and the like.

They still have a few reference clips, but not nearly as many as say, Family Guy. All in all, I found it funnier than American Dad, but not nearly as humorous as Family Guy.

Give it time, give it time.

An amazing satire of the Spin-Off!
