Season 7 of Winx Club carries on the theme of recent season by carrying a strong environmental message. In this adventure, the fairies discover the importance of the Fairy Animals, which they must save from Kalshara, an evil shape-shifter and her clumsy brother, Brafilius. The theme of endangered animals recurs throughout the series as the Winx establish an Animal Rescue Park on Earth, where they look after vulnerable animals such as pandas and tigers. The girls also undertake missions in the Magic Dimension and Earth to raise public awareness about the animal cause. This builds to their final mission – to discover the ultimate power of the Fairy Animals, which can give control over all the animals of the Magic Universe.

In 2014, it was announced that the partnership between Rainbow S.r.l. and Nickelodeon would not be renewed and that Nickelodeon will no longer co-produce the series. Season 7 is produced by Rainbow S.r.l. and co-produced by Rai Fiction. Season 7 was dubbed in English by DuArt Film and Video with their in house voice actors.

Faragonda shows Roxy and the Winx the Alfea Natural Park, which she created to welcome the last specimens of Fairy Animals in the Magic Dimension. An evil bird of prey unexpectedly enters the park and abducts the last specimen of Digmole.

Faragonda is concerned: as each Fairy Animal has a special talent, they need to solve the mystery of the Digmole. The Winx and Roxy receive the Stones of Memories to travel back in time. Only in this way, they will be able to save the Digmoles.

In the Alfea of the past, Kalshara, a fairy with dark intentions, manages to have access to an old hall of the college.
