I love how people keep comparing this to the clone wars when its not. Its actually a fresh new take on the star wars universe. The first couple of episodes have really focused on character development and the fact that the crew of the ghost is bonding like a family. For anyone trying to compare this to the clone wars, the clone wars series started out the same way. They are setting the stage in order to build from it later down the line. I feel like they are doing the same thing here. You can't get into complex plot elements without establishing a baseline for how characters both relate and react to both each other and the situation at hand. That is really what we are seeing now. We are getting introduced to the time period, the empire's grasp on the galaxy and the empire itself. I for one want to see where this goes because there is a ton of ground to cover between episode 3 and episode 4.

Keep in mind during the clone wars we already knew what was happening (a war), who the characters were (Obi-Wan, Anakin, etc) and they didn't really have to do much background because that was covered by the movies but the series still took the first couple of episodes to set the framework in which it would operate. Later on down the line more complex story arcs began to develop. I expect the same thing here.

All in all I like how this started and where is is going. The characters have all unique identities and the battle lines are starting to get drawn between the empire and this group.

If you are on the fence, give this a chance. It may be a little light hearted but if you enjoy stories coming out of the star wars universe then this one should do well for you.

I was skeptical at first and to tell you the truth the hardest thing to get past is Ezra's (the main character) nose? He is supposed to be human right. Anyway the annoying design choice aside I LOVED IT! The colors, the landscape and design rocked it. The characters are lovable and flawed. If you watch it with firefly in mind the personalities translate almost as much as star wars. Disney did way better then the clone wars TV show and you could tell that the attention to detail in respect to the original trilogy while still holding onto its own. That is a tall order and they handle the balance perfectly. After only seeing one episode there were moments that I was impressed with in the episode. Things that I thought was just plain brilliantly done. Hey if Mel was a Jedi I would watch it, wouldn't you?
